Student Program Opportunities

About Our Student Program

Since 2012, Spectra Support Services, LLC has offered a comprehensive training program to students interested in careers in the behavioral health field. Currently, our program offers paid internship opportunities to qualifying candidates earning degrees in the fields of social work, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy, and creative arts therapy (e.g., music, art, dance/movement, drama). 


We are committed to providing our students with quality supervision and education during placement. Therefore, a limited number of students are accepted into the program. Benefits of this program include the following:

  • Working clinically with children and adults with emotional challenges, behavior challenges and/or developmental differences, including Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Developing skills in trauma-informed practices and healing-centered approaches.
  • Being a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Supporting the development of agency programming for target populations.
  • Co-treating with counselors, therapists and coaches.
  • Developing resources for client populations and assisting families in navigating the system.
  • Expanding a working knowledge in treatment strategies for varied populations including Mindfulness-Based Play-Family Therapy, sand play, focusing, guided imagery, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Mandala Assessment Research Instrument, Positive Behavior Supports, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Functional Behavior Analysis, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training, and Motivational Interviewing to name a few.

  


Internship Eligibility Standard

Internship opportunities are open to Master's level students in social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling programs, and creative arts therapy (e.g., music, art, dance/movement, drama).  

Applicant Acceptance

Students who apply for a placement at Spectra Support Services, LLC are not guaranteed acceptance into the program.  Internship position offers are contingent upon the successful completion of the following: 

  1. Submission of formal application.
  2. Meeting of Spectra’s eligibility standards.
  3. Participation in an interview when invitations are extended.
  4. Acceptance of an internship position under the terms outlined in the acceptance letter.
  5. Completion of an affiliation agreement between Spectra Support Services and applicant’s educational institution.
  6. Successful completion of Spectra’s background and health screening procedures.
  7. Meeting of Spectra’s requirements to secure temporary employment as a clinical intern.
  8. Proof of liability insurance coverage for the entire duration of the placement.
