In October 2024, Spectra expanded its abilities to enrich their community by launching a new education program called the Moringa Institute. With a focus on nurturing the minds of individuals, families and professionals, the Moringa Institute offers a variety of learning opportunities. Check out the Moringa website to learn more about our workshops, podcasts, resources, and online continuing education programs.
Spectra is excited to introduce our new transitioning programming for adults and teens with ASD set to begin in Fall of 2024. Before our launch, we would like to get input directly from those most likely to benefit from our services. Come meet personally with Spectra’s co-owners to be a part of the final choice of training topics, support groups, services and more!
Looking for guidance on how to support teens or young adults with specialized needs during their transition years? Come get more in-depth information on topics that will help you prepare for and/or negotiate the transition from high school to adulthood. Many sessions will feature guest speakers on the night's topic from local, trusted professionals in the field.
This introductory level session is designed to present learners with an overview of Joan Kellogg’s Mandala Assessment Research Instrument (MARI) and discuss its implications for clinical practice.
This introductory level session presents learners with an overview of the ways mindfulness-based interventions (MBI) benefits individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD).
This workshop explores several evidence-based supportive clinical interventions for emerging adults with ASD who encounter comorbid mental health challenges. The key role of family supports in this transitional phase of life for adults with ASD will be presented along with possible implications for incorporating family and/or caregivers into the therapeutic process.
This workshop will explore the history and needs that existed that resulted in the development of the original DM-ID. Learners will have the opportunity to review actual case studies and practice the diagnostic framework being presented.
This home study course offers the learner the opportunity to explore a model developed by the American Association for Intellectual Developmental Disabilities (AIDD) that targets assessment and case formulations for young people with either mild intellectual disability (MID) or borderline intellectual functioning (BIF).

Additional Notes:
Spectra Support Services, LLC (Spectra) is a sponsor of continuing education. We are committed to the identification and resolution of potential conflicts of interest in the planning, promotion, delivery, and evaluation of our continuing education programs. Potential conflicts of interest occur when an individual assumes a professional role in the planning, promotion, delivery, or evaluation of a continuing education program where personal, professional, legal financial, or other interests could reasonably be expected to impair his/her/their objectivity, competence, or effectiveness. Our team of experienced healthcare professionals is dedicated to providing the highest quality care. We stay up-to-date with the latest medical advances and use evidence-based practices to ensure that you receive the best possible care.
The Chair of the CE Committee is responsible to identify, declare, and resolve any potential conflict of interest Spectra may have in offering any specific program of continuing education.
Spectra that professionals participating in the planning of CE programs disclose and identify any potential conflict of interest they may have in the review, selection, development, delivery, or evaluation of that program and disclose the conflict or recuse themselves from any decision-making concerning that program.
In the event of a potential conflict of interest, the Chair of the CE committee will assume responsibility to resolve the potential conflict by presenting the conflict to the committee and determining if the conflict would compromise the professional's ability to participate in a particular facet of program planning. The CE Committee Chair will use these recommendations to determine if the professional needs to recuse themselves completely from the particular planning process or just for portions of it. The Committee Chair will inform the affected professional and describe the way in which the committee has decided to address the conflict.
The CE Committee will review potential conflicts of interest when considering all CE program and instructor applications to determine whether or not the conflict, even if disclosed, potentially comprises the integrity of the program. Those course offerings determined to not meet that criteria will not be approved.
When preparing promotional material for continuing education programs, Spectra will ensure that participants are informed both when there are no known conflicts of interests or will disclose any financial support, including in-kind support, provided by another party. Spectra informs participants about potential conflicts or no known conflicts prior to registration through emails, promotional materials, and via their websites. Spectra will clearly indicate how participants can secure information about any potential conflict of interest related to the continuing education program if it is not included in the provided materials at the time of release.
Spectra requires that there is a process to clearly describe any financial support for a continuing education program at the time the continuing education program begins. The conflict will be verbalized by the instructor, stated on a slide in each presentation and included on all handouts. Any other relationships that could be reasonably construed as a conflict of interest will also be disclosed. If there is no financial support or potential conflict of interest, Spectra will ensure that this too is stated clearly to participants.
Spectra Support Services, LLC, (hereinafter referred to as “Spectra”) is fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with the American Psychological Association's Ethical Principles of Psychologists. Spectra will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants. The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of Spectra’s Program Administrator in conjunction with the Administration team. The Program Administrator shall assure that the member of the Administrative Team assigned to follow-up to the grievance or complaint does not have a conflict of interest that would impact fair evaluation of the issue and its resolution. Reports to the CE Committee will be made and members of the full committee consulted should the need arise.
While Spectra goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues which come to the attention of the program staff, which require intervention and/or action on the part of Spectra. This procedural description serves as a guideline for handling such grievances.
When a participant, either orally or in written format, files a grievance and expects action on the complaint, the following actions will be taken.
The above actions will require the Secretary to maintain a record that includes a written note documenting the grievance. The note need not be signed by the grieved individual.
The Grievance Procedure will be made available to all registrants during the registration process and during the program implementation. The procedure shall be posted on the CE Program section of Spectra’s website.
